What is a cover up?

A cover up is a new tattoo designed to fully hide or absorb an old one. It is not about painting over it - a good cover up uses dark areas, textures and composition in which the old design disappears. Realism, with rich light and shadow and dark backgrounds, works exceptionally well for this.

What can be covered?

Faded and blurry tattoos - usually the easiest to cover.
Lettering, names, small symbols - hide well inside a bigger composition.
Dark, heavily saturated designs - need a bigger and darker piece; sometimes it is worth lightening them with a laser first (1-3 sessions).

The new design is usually bigger than the old one - that is normal and necessary for an effective cover.

How to get a cover up quote

Send a photo of your current tattoo in daylight, without filters, with something for scale (e.g. a ruler).
Describe your idea - motif, mood, colour or Black&Grey.
Get an assessment and a quote - what is possible, in what size, and whether a laser is needed.

Cover ups are priced individually. A deposit secures the date and is deducted from the final price.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can every tattoo be covered?

Most can, but not with any motif. Very dark or large tattoos need a correspondingly bigger and darker design, and sometimes laser lightening first.

Does a cover up hurt more than a regular tattoo?

It should not - pain depends mostly on placement. The skin under the old tattoo must be fully healed, though.

How much does a cover up cost?

The quote is individual and depends on size and difficulty. A small piece is up to 1000 PLN, a day session 1800 PLN - I will give you an exact price after seeing a photo.
